Executive team

Randy Tofteland, President and Chief Executive Officer

Randy ToftelandRandy Tofteland is president and chief executive officer of SoftBrands, Inc., and a member of its board of directors. Tofteland was appointed chief executive officer in January 2006, and served as president and chief operating officer from October 2003 to December 2005.

Tofteland joined the company in 1997 as vice president of sales for Fourth Shift. He was promoted to vice president and general manager of Fourth Shift, Americas, in 1999. From January 2001 until May 2001 Mr. Tofteland held the position of Chief Operating Officer. He has also held the position of president of the company’s manufacturing business.

From 1982 to 1994, Tofteland held various roles with GE Medical Systems. From 1994 to 1997, he was a founder and president of, MedVision, a software company for the medical industry.

Tofteland holds a B.S. degree from Upper Iowa University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota.

Gregg Waldon, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Gregg WaldonWaldon was appointed SoftBrands senior vice president and chief financial officer on June 5, 2006. Most recently, Waldon was with Stellent, Inc., a provider of content management software solutions. Waldon joined Stellent in April 1999, playing a key role in its follow-on stock offerings, multiple acquisitions and operations. Prior to Stellent, Waldon was with GalaGen Inc., a bio-pharmaceutical company, serving as chief financial officer from 1994 to 1999. He also held positions at GalaGen as treasurer; vice president finance and controller.

Earlier in his career Waldon was with Price Waterhouse LLP for more than six years as an audit manager in its middle market and emerging growth practice in Minneapolis, and as a senior staff accountant. He holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from Bemidji State University and a master’s of science degree in finance from Colorado State University.

Ralf Suerken, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Manufacturing

Ralf Suerken

Ralf Suerken joined SoftBrands as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Manufacturing in May 2005. In this position Suerken is responsible for worldwide sales, consulting, support and product development. He reports to Randy Tofteland, SoftBrands president and chief executive officer.

Suerken most recently was chief operating officer of Pragmatek, a management consulting and SAP implementation firm. Prior to that he served as vice president professional services for Portal Software. Suerken also held positions at SAP America, as head of operations for business unit marketplaces Americas, and vice president of professional services.

Earlier in his career he served as chairman and chief executive officer of Itelligence Group, one of the largest SAP partners. Suerken is a native of Germany and holds a computer science degree from the University of Paderborn, Germany.

Jo Masters, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Hospitality

Jo MastersJo-Ann (Jo) Masters was named senior vice president and general manager of the SoftBrands Hospitality business in Oct. 2008. Masters has been with SoftBrands since 2000, joining the company as general manager of Australia. She then assumed the role of general manager for all of Asia Pacific and in 2004, moved into global services and support.

Masters was instrumental in implementing the company’s Worldwide Support Center in Bangalore, India and the integration plan for the support function after the purchase of HIS. Masters was appointed vice president and general manager of Americas Hospitality in October 2006 and grew revenue, improved professional services utilization and margins, and built a strong leadership team. She also led the sales effort on the largest sale in the company’s history, Red Roof Inns.

Earlier in her career she held positions at Eltrax Systems, Sulcus Australia and All Seasons Hotels and Resorts.
